ABOUT
i create spaces & fake places
Tim is a Berlin-based Production Designer and Set Decorator.
Long before film sets became his profession, Tim was already building worlds: assembling spaces from cardboard boxes, flour sacks and whatever else he could find in his parents’ small bakery in Lower Saxony. Growing up in the countryside, creating his own worlds seemed like a reasonable response to the pace of provincial life. Eventually leaving the small-town nest behind, Tim went on to study Film at the University of Fine Arts (HfbK) in Hamburg.
During his time there, he worked across a variety of roles within the art department, including Set Dresser, Assistant Production Designer and Set Decorator. In 2011 he began working independently as a Production Designer for commercials and photographic productions, followed in 2015 by his first TV feature, Strawberry Bubblegums by Benjamin Teske.
In 2020, Tim was nominated for Best Production Design at the German Film Awards for Freies Land by Christian Alvart, followed by a nomination for the Bild-Kunst Award for Das schwarze Quadrat by Peter Meister.
Alongside his work, Tim teached as a guest lecturer at the Hamburg Media School, IFS Cologne and the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg.
If you would like to see more of Tim's work, need a Netflix recommendation or want to debate the best matcha in Berlin, drop him a line.
